The Stages of Team Development Cards are an interactive way to help people learn about the Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing Stages of Team Development. The activity based on the cards engages team members to discover what is happening at each stage.

The deck contains 28 cards, seven per stage. Each stage has a card related to the mindset at that stage, how team members experience that stage, how people communicate at that stage, what leadership focuses on, understanding of team goals, how the team manages conflict, and clarity around roles and responsibilities.

Participants will use the Stages of Team Development Cards, where they trade cards to learn about what is happening at each stage. We then examine how each style experiences each stage. For example, Eagles may be concerned about the team’s mission and goal in the Forming stage, while Owls evaluate the process they will use. Meanwhile, Doves may be a bit tentative as they get to know each other, as Parrots are ready to jump right in with gusto and enthusiasm.
