You may know Merrick Rosenberg as The Bird Guy, but at Take Flight Learning, our CEO goes simply by Merrick.
Merrick started his career when the team building industry was in its infancy. While working on his M.B.A., he discovered this new way of teaching people how to work together effectively and immediately knew this was his path. He founded Team Builders Plus with Jeff Backal in 2001 and paved the way for the team building world we know today.
It didn’t take long for Merrick to observe that personality clashes often created conflict in teams. So, he began using the DISC model in 1994. After teaching the DISC styles to hundreds of thousands of people, he became dismayed that the styles weren’t making a lasting impact and getting infused into corporate culture.
In a fateful moment in 2010, he asked himself, “How can we make the styles more memorable and impactful?” In a flash of insight, the birds flew into his awareness and the Eagle, Parrot, Dove, and Owl styles were born.
He released Taking Flight! in 2012 and founded Take Flight Learning to share the birds with the world. Four more books and seven bird-style based training programs and certifications later, he built an ecosystem around the birds. As the visionary creator of BirdBrains, Inc. Merrick has worked with more than half of the Fortune 100 companies and has helped millions of people around the world to tap into the power of their personality.
Merrick has been named the New Jersey CEO of the Year by AI magazine and Delaware Valley HR Consultant of the Year by the Society for Human Resource Management. Merrick received his MBA specializing in Organizational Development from Drexel University which selected him as the Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year.
As CEO of Take Flight Learning, his organization was selected as the New Jersey Business of the Year by NJ Biz magazine. His organization was also selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the Fastest Growing Companies and Best Places to Work in the Philadelphia area.
In addition to speaking at conferences and events for companies, Merrick has spoken to groups, such as TEDx, Association for Talent Development, Society for Human Resource Management, Project Management Institute, International Society for Performance Improvement, Employers Council, American Society for Quality, Vistage International, President’s Club, Pharma Forum, and Young Associates.
